Attorneys with CBL have advised clients on the development and financing of rail served products terminals, the lease and use of rail cars for the transportation of oil by rail, complex commercial agreements for the operation of rail and barge related products terminals, and regulatory and commercial provisions related to the connection of pipeline, rail and barge modes.

CBL attorneys have also advised clients on rail transportation contracts and rail operations, rail regulatory filings on maximum rate issues before the Surface Transportation Board (STB), federal preemption of state and local land use and safety regulations with respect to pipeline and rail facilities, and the recordation of equipment leases and purchases at the STB.

CBL attorneys have helped clients with a wide range of other rail issues, including the acquisition and operation of short lines, the joint use of rail terminal and other rail facilities, rail financing, preserving access to rail competitive services, proposed service terminations and line abandonments, and environmental regulatory issues involving rail service and operations.
